Our Projects

At Sustainable Bourne Valley, we’re dedicated to fostering a greener, more resilient future for our community.

Through our various impactful projects, we aim to protect our environment, enhance biodiversity, and empower local residents to adopt sustainable practices.

Hirst Meadow

Hirst Meadow

SBV has transformed an unused plot of land into a haven for wildlife to boost biodiversity and create much needed habitat for many threatened indigenous species such as bees, butterflies, moths and birds.

Toad Patrol

Toad Patrol

Toads are a biodiversity priority species because of recent declines in numbers and after many sightings of squashed toads on the SMB road near Derrydown Surgery, SBV decided to give them a little helping hand by setting up a Toad Patrol.

Repair Cafe

Repair Cafe

SMB Repair Cafe runs on the first Saturday of each month in The George Inn, St Mary Bourne. It is part of a countrywide campaign to repair household and electrical items that would otherwise be expensive or unable to be repaired.

Cosy Homes Bourne Valley

Cosy Homes Bourne Valley

Cosy Homes Bourne Valley is a local initiative to identify heat loss from your home, suggest ways to improve the cosiness of your home and then identify local businesses that can help you make the changes.

Hedgehog Street

Hedgehog Street

We know hedgehogs are in trouble. We have lost a third of all our hedgehogs since the millennium. SBV has joined the nationwide campaign “Hedgehog Street” to help save the UK’s only spiny mammal.
