Welcome to Cosy Homes Bourne Valley!
Sustainable Bourne Valley launched this project in 2022. We are dedicated to helping residents of the Bourne Valley improve home energy efficiency, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint.
Do You Need a Helping Hand?
- To identify heat loss in your home.
- To find practical solutions to improve insulation and efficiency.
- To connect with trusted local businesses to implement changes.
While the climate crisis might feel distant, local actions can make a big difference. Did you know poorly insulated homes can waste up to £1 out of every £3 spent on heating? That’s heat—and money—flying straight out the window.
Would you like to make your home more energy-efficient, save on heating bills, and contribute to a sustainable future?

How We Can Help You:
Step 1:
Borrow our Camera
Borrow our thermal imaging camera to identify where your home is losing heat.
- Our Huepar HTi80P thermal imaging camera is easy to use and available for a voluntary £5 contribution to Sustainable Bourne Valley.
- Use it for up to 3 days to scan for cold spots and heat leaks.
- The camera reveals warmer areas in red/yellow and cooler areas in blue/black, making it simple to pinpoint problem spots.
👉 For tips on using the camera effectively, see this guide on the BBC.
Step 2:
Discover Solutions
Based on your findings, we provide:
- DIY tips for quick fixes.
- A curated list of local businesses that can help with larger projects.
Supporting local professionals strengthens the community economy and minimizes transportation emissions—it’s a win-win!
Step 3:
Make Improvements and Re-Assess
Once your insulation and efficiency upgrades are complete, we recommend remeasuring with the camera.
- Verify the difference and enjoy the benefits of a warmer home, lower bills, and a smaller carbon footprint.

What Is a Thermal Imaging Camera?
This device captures temperature variations on surfaces as images, revealing areas where heat escapes.
- Bright colors (reds/yellows): Heat loss.
- Dark colors (blues/blacks): Colder, well-insulated areas.
By eliminating heat loss, you’ll cut energy costs and shrink your carbon footprint.
How to Use the Camera
- Warm your home. For best results, use the camera when it’s cold outside.
- Scan your home at night to avoid sunlight interference.
- Capture images of problem areas for reference before making improvements.
- Return the camera. Once you have finished with the camera, any images recorded will be removed and, if you wish, they can be emailed to you. No copies of any images will be kept.
